Assignment 1 (type of software)

Photo Scape Discription:

If you are looking for a program which lets you view, edit and print your photos for free and to a high, professional standard then it is worth considering PhotoScape as one of your top options.
The interface takes a little bit of getting used to, as it is quite different from the type used by most photo editing suites. However, if you give it a chance to settle in you will almost certainly find that it is a pleasingly simple and intuitive lay out which you end up learning pretty quickly and getting to like.
The image viewer is perhaps a little basic looking for some people's tastes, although others will be very happy with the simplicity and cleanness it offers. You get a thumbnail view and a list of folders down the side of the screen with a bigger preview space. You can rotate images here and the only complaint would be that the thumbnail preview is a little small. Having said that, it probably isn't a view you would need to use all that much.
Once you enter into the editing option there are plenty of existing templates if you want to sort out a web comic, image collage or something similar. When it comes to editing the images you will find the usual suspects; red eye remover, cropping, filter, contrast and colour adjustments etc. If you want to add fun photo frames, speech balloons or text you will find that here as well, along with all the other features you would expect on a good standard of image editor, including animated GIFs and raw convertor. Basically, the editor gives you all the image editing options and help which you could reasonably hope to find. Grouping files together, combining images, splitting one photo into several files and an internet face search are among the rather more advanced options on offer.
The one big complaint which has been voiced about this application is the amount of memory it uses up on the user's system, and if you are already a bit tight on this score then you will probably decide to look for a less high maintenance option, otherwise the features and the options on PhotoScape are enough to keep most of us happy.
The version you will come across if you want to download just now is PhotoScape 3.5. This version supports an impressive list of 34 languages.
If you are looking for a fun way to edit and present your personal photos then this tool has definitely got more features than you could ever need. If you are looking for something for professional use you may find that a couple of the editing features don't give you the very highest quality around, but as it is a free program which features an awful lot on it you won't have much to complaint about.
